AME’s Experience in the Pulp&Paper Industry
The Italian Pulp&Paper industry is undergoing a period of significant evolution, combining its strong manufacturing tradition with new demands for sustainability and digital transformation. With over 8 million tons of annual production and €8.3 billion in revenue (Assocarta, 2024), Italy remains a European leader — particularly in tissue and packaging — driven by the growth of e-commerce and the gradual shift away from single-use plastics.
Environmental performance is also remarkable: over 60% of production now comes from recycled fibers, and many mills already operate according to circular models, reducing water and energy consumption while recovering heat and resources.
However, sustainability is not only environmental — it also means protecting people.
According to INAIL, in 2024 the sector recorded 1,725 work-related injury claims, including one fatal case. As is well known, paper mills are highly complex environments: narrow aisles, the movement of large rolls, continuously operating overhead cranes, and high-traffic zones make safety a central and non-negotiable priority.
Every incident is one too many, highlighting the need to strengthen prevention systems that protect workers and ensure operational continuity.
This is where AME comes in, providing advanced solutions and technologies that help paper mills prevent risks, protect operators, and optimize internal workflows.
Since 1999, AME has supported the paper industry with innovative solutions that make safety proactive and measurable without slowing down productivity. Our intelligent technologies connect operators, vehicles, and industrial plants through AI cameras, active TAGs, and advanced sensors, preventing collisions between operators and forklifts or overhead cranes, streamlining internal traffic, and providing data-driven insights for safer and more efficient operational decisions.
