The E_seal takes the functions of a classic seal and integrates them with all the technical features of an active Tag.
Its extreme flexibility makes it perfect for all those sectors that need dynamic identification of goods, containers, pallets, etc. with tracking and security functions of the goods along the entire logistics flow.
The E_seal contains and sends, when scanned by a reader, the following information:
- Seal Code
- Container ID
- Seal status, identifying whether the device has been opened/closed-broken/not broken.
The seal can be read via two methods:
WITH A MOBILE READER
The E_seal is identified by a palm-held device (PC, smartphone, etc.). The device causes the E_seal to “wake up” and send the information to the application on the palm-held device through an integrated receiver.
This type of device allows the targeted reading of an E_seal, that is to say, an individual E_seal can be selected and read. Alternatively a broadcast can be sent to all the active E_seals within the reader’s range
WITH FIXED READER
The E_seal, once awake, sends data to the receiver which, in turn, sends it via an ethernet connection to a PC. The system identifies the container ID and the E_seal (with its status) and the association between them, of containers in transit moving pass the reading point.
The fixed method can only do broadcast readings of the E_seals
The seal’s main feature is its electronic closure. An encrypted data packet is transmitted at regular intervals through the cable that is connected to the seal at both ends. In this way it is possible to tell if the E_seal has been re-closed with a different plug, or if the original one has been altered. Furthermore, the device can also “detect” whether the closing cable has been cut. The E_seals can record up to 15 events, with a timestamp, internally. The types of events stored are: – Unauthorised opening of the seal – Cutting the cable – Authorised opening – Closing after authorised opening
